No appeal on the Otaki pipeline decision

The Wellington Regional Council Independent Commisioners had recently declined the application from the KCDC to build a pipeline from the Otaki River to the Southern wards.

The decision was a good one for Otaki residents as the only option the KCDC had proposed fell short of meetings it's obligations under the Resource Management Act.

On Wednesday 19th September the council has just decided not to appeal the pipeline decision. That is great news for Otaki residents. We will have to wait and see if this becomes one of the options in the future but for the moment we can rest easy. I would like the council though to start the consultation process with the iwi and residents about a sustainable water managerment plan for the Otaki River

This photo was taken on the bridge looking towards the sea. We don't really have alot of water either.
